A few years ago, I was at dead-zero…
Working at a telesales job in the UK for a small wage…
At the start I was terrible.
As soon as I was on the phone… I could barely string a sentence together, nevermind close a deal.
I was probably as far away from a “natural” as you can ever imagine.
But gradually, day-by-day I got better…
And a few weeks in I started closing some deals.
The snowball just kept growing until I was the manager of the entire sales team.
Which was the point when I decided that if I could manage a sales team, I could teach other sales teams how to close like me too.
So I quit my job, and started a sales training business…
18 months later, the business is doing around $22k and life is good!
And then, the virus hit.
If you remember... businesses started furloughing their sales teams.
They went into preservation mode by focusing on their existing clients instead of trying to get new ones.
Which made it impossible for me to keep that business running.
But I had a BIG problem:
I was living a comfortable life and now I needed to figure out how to replace that income… FAST.
I’d heard a lot of guys talking about lead gen on money Twitter, so I thought that would be perfect.
I spent months learning the ins and outs of a successful cold email campaign, and started running some for myself.
At the start, I didn’t hear much except for a few “no thanks”...
But I kept on studying, and breaking down each element that makes or breaks a successful cold email campaign…
I soon realized that there are a few crucial elements to successful cold email campaigns…
That when left out/forgotten, makes them crash and burn every single time.
And every time I stumbled on another success “factor”, I noticed better and better results in my campaigns.
More replies.
More booked calls.
More clients.
Years of practice, failures and trial-and-error, I formed my learnings into a “mental checklist” that I go through every time I create a new campaign… the exact one I briefly walked you through earlier.
Since then, I’ve sold my lead gen agency… and now working on a new B2B consultancy that’s currently making around $250k/month, all thanks to this system.
